Jehlum Post News | Srinagar| August 12, 2015| Governor N.N. Vohra has expressed grief on the death of 11 persons in a road accident which occurred yesterday at Sadhna Top in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district. He has conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. A Spokesman of the Raj Bhavan disclosed that the Governor has expressed regret and deep anguish that while over a thousand innocent persons lose their lives and 6-7000 get injured in recurring road accidents every year, the Police and Transport authorities have still to implement stringent measures to, interalia, check the licences of all those who drive public transport vehicles and, besides, the road worthiness of all vehicles which are being used for transporting people. Those who drive transport vehicles in difficult hill areas should be required to pass a special hill driving test and, besides, the Police must enforce punitive measures for the overloading of public transport vehicles, which is a common sight. |

After the initial test results by Uttar Pradesh Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showed harmful levels of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in Maggi, various states across India and even Bangladesh conducted tests on Maggi to find out whether the food product is safe or not.
The controversy around Maggi has led to tests being conducted across the country.
The entire controversy began when the UP FDA last month asked Nestle India to withdraw a batch of Maggi noodles "which were manufactured in February 2014" after it found high levels of added MSG, a taste enhancer, in the noodles and lead beyond permissible limits.
